Presented by Lee Towe, PMP, President, Innovators International, Inc.

A CONSISTENT TRACK RECORD OF SUCCESS
A conference of more than 8,000 people in New Orleans had such regard for Lee Towe's speaking ability that they placed his general session presentation immediately between television personalities George Will and Bryant Gumbel. As a conference planner, you can count on Lee to deliver a presentation with take-away value, respect for the audience, some form of interactivity and enough humor to make everything click.

Lee Towe's presentation at the PMI2001 conference in Nashville is reported to be one of, if not the highest-rated session among over 150 presentations. Lee's speaker ratings at a PMI Professional Development Day in 2000 tied for the top rating among speakers from six states. Lee's speaker ratings at the Minnesota PMI Professional Development Day in 2002 also tied for top honors along with the opening keynote speaker. Here are a few of the positive comments Lee was received:

Written Comments:

"I wanted to write to tell you how much I enjoyed meeting you and listening to you speak in Kansas City. Your speech was absolutely sensational! At the Wednesday night banquet, my wife and I both agreed that your speech even overshadowed the comedian [Brad Garrett of CBS's Everybody Loves Raymond] who entertained that evening. To me, it seemed to set the tone for the rest of the national conference; positive, upbeat and confident with a little humor thrown in."

REPRESENTATIVE TOPICS

"Negotiation Techniques for Project Managers"  90 minutes
(This topic may be used an interactive keynote address.)

Project managers negotiate a lot during the course of a project. Business managers need persuading to make team members available. People with the purse strings may need convincing that funds are necessary. Even team members sometimes need to be sold on the merits of the project, not to mention the negotiating that goes on with suppliers, the sponsor and other project managers.

Participants in this entertaining session negotiate for funds associated with a popular new product called Hotspots. Several project managers and other key people compete in a setting that brings out natural negotiation tendencies. After the debriefing period, several negotiation strategies are discussed.

"How to Create Your Own Parametric Estimating Spreadsheet"     60-75 minutes

Want a practical method of capturing your most important lessons learned in a way that you can apply to future projects? Develop your own parametric model. First, determine the most important estimating factors. Second, use them to set up formulas in a computer spreadsheet. Third, use the spreadsheet for making future estimates. Your model will become more refined and more accurate as time goes on.

"Think in Analogies to Anticipate More Project Risks"     50-60 minutes
(Presented in Nashville for PMI's World Conference, November 2001)

Many people have trouble anticipating risks because their thinking is too literal. Some of the lessons learned from a previous project are lost because similarities are not recognized, or lessons that could be pulled from projects in other industries are perceived as irrelevant. In this session, you will learn how to help others think conceptually in order to improve your odds of expecting the unexpected.

"When and How to Manage Your Work as a Project"     30-90 minutes

Perfect presentation for the conference or club that is interested in knowing more about the basics of project management. This PowerPoint presentation outlines the basic principles of project management and lists steps for applying the basic principles. All nine knowledge areas are addressed, as well as the primary planning documents. An interactive activity may be added if your time allows.
