The AIM Workshop: Anticipate, Innovate, Motivate

Could your project managers or their methods use a shot of creativity? Finally, "The Aim Workshop" addresses that need in an interesting and informative one-day program. After a half-day session on creative thinking, participants practice applying the methods in three important areas of project management:

  1. How to anticipate problems and events;
  2. How to develop innovative solutions to problems, and;
  3. How to motivate others in order to complete projects successfully.

SUMMARY

Successful project management requires creativity. For example, you must anticipate new risks. You must devise ways to turn win-lose constrains into win-win outcomes. You must imagine and communicate project benefits in a way that makes your project compelling. You must break through false restrictions in order to negotiate more successfully. You must brainstorm a list of benefits before you can conduct benefit-cost analysis. You must visualize various scenarios in order to develop realistic estimates and plans. During this workshop, you will apply four creative thinking techniques in a variety of project management situations that call for anticipation, innovation or motivation.

OBJECTIVES

Develop and enhance the contributions you make to your organization by being able to:

  • List four barrier that limit innovative solutions
  • Apply two analogous risk identification methods to discover a greater number of risks during the planning phase
  • Apply the steps required to create scenarios for project planning
  • List four reasons some people may fear and sabotage the success of your project
  • Apply four strategies for turning win-lose situations into win-win opportunities
  • Apply five negotiation methods of going beyond positions to uncover needs and interests
  • List four ways to increase fun and ownership among project team members
  • Apply the steps required to increase influence by improving empathy
  • Apply three strategies for making project goals more compelling

During the opening half day, you will learn how to improve your creative-thinking skills in a number of different ways. In the following day and a half, you will focus your revived creative energies on ways to anticipate, innovate and motivate in a project environment.
